Fruit Trees

Strawberry - Red Cascade 🍓

The Strawberry Red Cascade SH PBR is a new low chill variety.

It has been bred from heritage strains, making it great for backyard growers.
The flavour is rich and sweet.
The soft, textured stem separates easily from the fruit, so pick with the stem on for maximum shelf life. They are not day length neutral and can be highly productive from May through to November 🍓🍓🍓 #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #strawberry #backyardgarden

The visually striking - Jaboticaba

The Jaboticaba fruit tree has a habit of producing the fruit directly on the trunk, making it a visually striking tree. The black fruit has an edible, thin, but tough skin. The texture is similar to a grape, with a sweet and aromatic flavour.

Cropping can begin at 5 years, with several crops maturing from spring to autumn. The Jaboticaba is a versatile small tree with decorative coppery foliage that makes for a great ornamental tree, or a superb hedge

Citrus 🍋🍊

Citrus fruit trees are the most popular fruit bearing group of plants grown in Australia. The glossy green foliage, white scented flowers and colourful fruit make these trees just as suited to ornamental plantings and container growing as to the home orchard. The fruit is produced in abundance, is nutritious, versatile and can be left on the tree for long periods.

Citrus grows best in an open and sunny position. Frost-free areas are preferable, however most citrus will tolerate light frost once they are established. Correct planting and ongoing care as outlined in the catalogue is vital for long-term success. Selecting the varieties to grow is up to you, however we strongly recommend that your choice allows for the maximum spread of maturity times throughout the season 🍊🍋 #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #orange #lemon #citrus #backyardgarden

Pineapple F180 🍍

The F180 pineapple variety is sweet with low acidity. This plant makes a very attractive patio plant, which will reward you with fruit within 2 years.

The pineapple is in the Bromeliad family - it requires very well drained potting mix and a sunny warm position. With these simple conditions, your plant will thrive 🍍🍍🍍 #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #pineapple #backyardgarden

Chilcotin Raspberry 💓

The Chilcotin Raspberry is a summer fruiting variety that produces heavy crops of good quality fruit. Sturdy, almost thornless canes carry sweet fruit in mid-summer. They are a mid season variety. This variety has good disease resistance. They fruit on the floricanes, which are the previous years growth. Prune out each cane as it finishes fruiting and tie up the new seasons growth (primocanes) to fruit the next year. Chilcotin Primocanes may produce a small autumn crop on their tips, and the tips should be pruned after harvest #daleyfruit #daleysnursery #raspberry #chilcotinraspberry #backyardgarden

Asparagus

The Asparagus is an attractive, fern-like perennial that can produce fresh tasty spears for over 20 years if the beds are well-maintained. Asparagus prefers sandy soils, but with the right preparation it will perform very well in heavier clays. Asparagus is a valuable investment in the long term vegetable garden. The plants are either male or female. Both male and female plants produce delicious spears, the male spears being slightly thicker, the females producing seed heads which can be pruned to encourage growth #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #asparagus #backyardgarden

Edible Pandanus 🌿

The Edible Pandanus is widely cultivated for use in Asian cooking and basket making. It has a nutty fragrance and is most commonly used in rice dishes or tied in a bundle and cooked with food. Also useful in flower arrangements. A low growing plant to 1m with long narrow blade-like leaves and woody aerial roots. In tropical climates it can be grown as a marginal plant in dams and ponds, and used as a bedding plant in tropical landscaping. If you live outside of the tropics, it is well worth trying as an indoor plant in winter with a warm, sunny aspect. Allow the plant to dry out over the winter months. #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #pandanus #ediblepandanus
