Plant Tags from A to Z

Do you like reading plant tags like this:

I have just gone though and added another 100 plant tags to our online list starting at Abiu and ending at Youngberry.

So if you like to spend the time finding out about "Cultural Notes" and trivia this is a great place to get educated.

We hope you enjoy reading them from the comfort of your iphone or computer without standing on your feet holding the plant and trying to read it through the foliage.

Jackfruit the biggest Fruit grown in Australia

Lately in Brisbane I have been noticing jackfruit trees in peoples backyards. Here are some pictures of the end results. And then a youtube on how to use them.

Mangosteen Fruit the Queen of Fruits

Just been to the market in Ubud, managed to get 1kg of Purple Mangosteen for $3.

The season has just about finished so was very lucky to get these. If you are ever in SE Asia try these and you will understand why these are called the Queen of Fruits.

I wonder what the King of Fruits is?

My Chilli Experience that was HOT

One of our Staff Josie ( on the right with our Catalogue ) has had lots of experience with hot food and I was told 'through the grape vine' that she often took the Chilli off the plants in our nursery and ate them.
Now I had a high opinion of my ability to eat hot foods and so I saw one of the Habanero Orange Chillis that looked amazing and the bright colours of the chillis on such a small plant lured me in.

So I said to myself. "... I am great with hot food after all I choose "HOT" when I eat at Nandos"

I took an innocent little bite perhaps like Adam and Eve and oh boy was I under gunned for this experience. It can be compared to eating tablespoons of wasabi. My head felt like it exploded and water did nothing.

My Chilli experience had not finished. About 30 minutes later I finally got my composure but needed to go to the toilet after drinking so much water. I had those board shorts on that require you to undo the knot. As I did so my hands touched my stomach and instantly I had huge red marks. It felt like I had been kicked in the guts. It took 2 days for the marks to go away.

Hot Tip: Read the Chilli Plant Tag taking particular note of the bits that say:
"...Always be sure to wash hands after use..."
"... Rates 10 out of 10 on the heat scale....."

Ron Finley: This guy is inspirational. "Come to the garden with your shovel"

This clip will captivate you. Yes it is American but the passion applies here in Australia.

Some great sayings in there like:
"Growing your Own Food is like Printing your own Money"

"Food is the problem and food is the solution"

"..So what I did I planted a food forest in-front of my house"

"If you want to meet with me. Come to the garden with your shovel so we can plant some sh#$*"
