We often get asked where can I get soursop the fruit from? @daleysfruit we only sell the plants which isn't helpful to those who want the fruit asap so we often say best to try Tropical Fruit World where their amazing shop sells them at the right time of year. Today while visiting a Greek/South American, Italian grocer I found a soursop fruit nectar fruit drink $2.25 and 500g of frozen soursop flesh for $8.90 in their freezer and fridge sections. Fruit Drink was very thick with #passionfruit #mango and slight milky flavours. So worth asking your local specialty supermarkets if you can't visit tropical fruit world for the real thing. Grafted Soursop Fruit Trees Taste & Growing in Subtropical Australia NSW

Soursop Fruit Trees

Soursops are a Tropical Fruit Tree and oh so very sensitive to frosts. We do have a grafted variety called "Grafted Kyogle Soursop Tree" which we have established in our subtropical climate and have them fruiting even though it is a marginal climate for Soursop Trees. We also discuss the taste.

Very lemony, Yeah Yum, But not sour like a Lemon, No, not sour, sweet lemony taste, Lemonade, Little Seeds, Tiny Seeds. Yum. This is the Soursop and we're growing this in Kyogle so this is a really tropical fruit and Kyogle is very subtropical so we get in Winter we get to about 5 degrees where we are growing this and you do need a frost free site so they will not tolerate any frost and even the 5 degrees that we get in the Winter is a bit of a challenge we get with young trees so make sure you protect them until they are really well established but once you get them going and this particular variety is a grafted Kyogle you will get a really good crop on them so we've got quite a few fruit coming on and they're just starting to ripen up so it is possible to grow tropical fruits in marginal climates if you take care especially when they're young. Protect them from the cold at all costs until their well established. Roff.

Exclusion Orchard

Define Exclusion Orchard: A fully netted orchard where fruit trees can be grown without fruit fly, bats and other pests from damaging the fruit.

Exclusion Orchard

2014 is going to be a memorable year for us all at Daley's Nursery as this is the year that
we started to reap the rewards from our exclusion orchard.  Since the netting went up around our favourite fruits we can now pick and eat them without any fear of finding grubs and savour the full flavours of freshly picked, tree ripen fruits. We started the year with the best mango season in recent memory which has been closely followed by a bumper fig crop, it is hard to decide which has been a more enjoyable experience.
If you are considering a mini exclusion orchard there are a few important things to remember, firstly you will need to have pollinators inside your exclusion zone.  We have installed a native bee hive within the orchard and the tiny stingless bees are hard at work on warm sunny days working our flowers and pollinating the fruit for us.  We also have a pair of guinea fowls whose job is to clean up any stray unwanted insects that may happen to enter the orchard. They have raised their first brood of 7 chicks and we are feeling very proud of our success with these shy but interesting birds.

And secondly pruning is vital to keep all the trees compact, away from the netting and to keep all those delicious fruits within reach.

Soursop Tree for Sale in Australia

Australia has many places like QLD and NSW where the weather is similar to Mexico or central America where the soursop tree originated.  If you have high humidity and warm winters then your backyard needs a new family member the Soursop Tree.

A silver bullet like eating one fruit does sound too good to be true however one thing that has been shown time and time again in the fight against cancer is eating a diet high in Fruit, Nut & Vegetables does reduce your risk of getting many common cancers and even when you do get cancer this diet is the one you are often forced to go on.

The variety of fruit that can be grown in Australia is a wonderland with our amazing climate. So a varied diet should be available to everyone by growing fruit trees in your backyard that you can not easily or economically buy in the grocery store.  The Soursop would fit this ethos perfectly.

I recommend a grafted variety that costs more initially but produces fruit faster and will likely taste better.
