Eating Slowly the Monstera Fruit Salad Tree

Fruit Salad Tree Monstera
Do you eat your food too fast? The Monstera nicknamed "Fruit Salad Tree" can help you slow down. It can take 2 weeks just to eat one. It has flavours like pineapple and banana but unlike a banana where the entire banana ripens at once. The Monstera will only ripen about 10% of the fruit at a time. You eat 10% (the ripe bits falling off the stem) wrap it back up in newspaper and wait a few more days for your next delicious chance. Meanwhile your whole house will smell beautiful as it ripens. Lots of us have some places in our backyards that don't get full sun and a Monstera will thrive in partial shade. It grows in a wide range of climates one person saying "Who said it was tropical? I live in Hobart and have one outside the front door"

Fruit Salad Tree - Monstera Tree

Monstera or Fruit Salad Tree. This delicious pineapple banana flavoured fruit is an old time favourite. Grown often as an ornamental it is very hardy. There is a process to ripening the fruit. Pick the mature fruit and then wrap it in newspaper until it ripens. As the scales fall off you can then eat the flesh. Easily grown in the subtropics. Has anyone grown this further south? ‪#‎monstera‬ ‪#‎fruitsaladtree‬

Monsterio Tree or fruit salad tree

This fruit tree has such lush large leaves.

The fruit salad tree looks like it belongs in a rainforest.
The fruit can be picked before the possums or bats would want it and allowed to ripen in your house where it will fill it with a sweet perfumed smell.

The outer green layered skin falls off of its own accord leaving the sweet white flesh which is eaten and enjoyed in tiny amounts because unlike a banana which can be eaten entirely when ready only a small portion of the monsterio can be eaten.

Yes the taste is a mixture of lots of fruits or a fruit salad.

Great plant to grow purely on its rainforest look but the tasty fruit is fantastic too.
