It has been in the same soil and 6" pot for about 8 years. I doubt there is any nutritional soil left yet the plant doubles in size each year. It is currently about 3' in diameter with about 25 "stalks". I don't think they require ground roots to grow. I think they get their nutrients through air roots. That said, mine has never fruited. Maybe no soil is why. That's OK - I grow it for the blooms.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28640064.post-77595160000658236852008-12-04T16:51:00.000+11:002008-12-04T16:51:00.000+11:00Unfortunately you're incorrect about the dragon fr...Unfortunately you're incorrect about the dragon fruit cactus "strangling it's host". They indeed have roots in the ground, their aerial roots are only to attach themselves to whatever object they're climbing. Otherwise the commercial ones growing on metal pipes etc would not be able to live.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28640064.post-45253513928948210342008-08-20T05:39:00.000+10:002008-08-20T05:39:00.000+10:00I live on the big island of hawaii and am growing ...I live on the big island of hawaii and am growing dragon fruit. i enjoyed your photos and info. mahaloUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03890785892973800963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28640064.post-11142749978793107432007-08-18T12:01:00.000+10:002007-08-18T12:01:00.000+10:00Very good.We can share info. You can visit my site ...Very good.We can share info. You can visit my site at http://reddragonfruits.blogspot.com/

tqZainudin Meonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02083324018555029314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28640064.post-15716434503477452692007-08-08T06:45:00.000+10:002007-08-08T06:45:00.000+10:00We are growing Dragon Fruit in Bundaberg Qld -inte...We are growing Dragon Fruit in Bundaberg Qld -interested in finding more people in Qld whp are growing them email me reg_maureen18@hotmail.comMaureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05336223662627956900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28640064.post-11869566758617604082007-05-15T14:08:00.000+10:002007-05-15T14:08:00.000+10:00Your presentation on fruit trees is very well done...Your presentation on fruit trees is very well done in terms of information and quality of presentation.

Murray HargansAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
