The Elephant Apple 🍏

The Elephant Apple is a medium sized tree growing to around 15m. It has attractive corrugated foliage. The knobbly fruits can be used in curries, jellies and jams. The fragrant flowers are highly ornamental.

The tree prefers a tropical location, marginal in the subtropics. Great as a Food Forest canopy tree. The fruits are ripe when they turn a yellow colour- pick fruits only when ripe as they will not ripen further. The outer petals can be prepared and eaten, and the gelatinous pulp is often combined with sugar if consumed raw.

The Elephant Apple has medicinal properties, and is a beautiful shady ornamental tree in warm climates. This tree is found growing in Tropical Asia, and is loved by elephants, hence the name #daleysfruit #daleynursery #elephantapple #backyardgarden

Everyone's favourite - The Lychee

Described as the most luscious of all fruits, the Lychee is native to Southern China. The fruit has a red/pink skin, and the translucent flesh is sweet and juicy. Its hard to stop at one.

For best results, lychees require seasonal temperature variations - warm humid summers and cool dry winters are the ideal climate for growing. They are a handsome, dense, rounded tree that can be susceptible to damage from strong winds. We strongly advise the purchase of marcotted trees as they bear in as little as 3 years.

It is very important to eat Lychees when fully ripe, as they contain toxins that are harmful to health when unripe #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #lychee

The Ambarella

Despite being tropical, the ambarella has proven to be quite hardy and is very fast to become established in the subtropics. The fruit set begins after only three years.

The Ambarella tastes like a mix between pineapple and mango, but with a crunchy texture. The flesh nearer to the peel is quite sour, but gets sweeter near the seed. The ripe fruit is also much sweeter than the less mature green fruit. In Indonesia, they are steamed and eaten as a vegetable with salted fish and rice, and in Sri Lanka the raw fruit is mostly eaten fresh or cooked in a curry with chili.

As they mature, the skin turns golden-yellow with an orange-yellow pulp surrounding a single large spiny seed. When ripe, they have a pleasant pineapple-like fragrance. With similar growing conditions to the Mango, the tree thrives in humid tropical and subtropical areas, growing up to 2 metres in a single growing season.

It grows on all types of soil as long as it is well drained. The trees are cold sensitive when small and should be protected from serious frost and strong wind. The trees do best in full sun, but will produce some fruit in light shade. As the Ambarella is a large and vigorous tree, it prefers not be planted underneath other large trees, and unlike some mango varieties it is not too fussed on salt spray

Flame tree 🔥

The Flame Tree is Australia's most spectacular flowering rainforest tree, with brilliant red flowers in mid spring. It is a superb shade tree and very hardy - it will grow in most regions of Australia.

Grafted trees will flower within 3 years, and are selected from vibrant flowering stock. These trees will tend to drop leaves in the late spring as they are briefly deciduous during flowering season 🔥❤ #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #flametree #rainforesttree

White Jacaranda 🤍

A beautiful white flowering form of jacaranda. The White Jacaranda is a spectacular choice for a street tree or large shade tree. It is a long lived trees that can grow to be 200 years old.

Flowers appear in late spring and early summer. Grafting ensures flower will be pure white. The foliage is delicate on young trees, and our potted plants are known for their older leaves to turn yellow and drop during transport to conserve energy. This is not a problem long term. With care and acclimatisation, they will bounce back strongly. #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #whitejacaranda #jacaranda

WA - 50% Reduction in Quarantine Costs

What are WA Quarantine Requirements?

The WA government requires plants to go through certain checks before being allowed entry. These checks include payment to NSW DPI officers to physically visit us and look over all the plants and fill out verification paperwork.

Additionally WA DPI officers need to verify the list of plants and check all the plants when they arrive into Western Australia.

There are also certain sprays that the plants need.

Each of these steps are part of the quarantine costs on each order.

Why are quarantine costs 50% cheaper Now?

2 words Scale and Productivity. In other words more WA customers are ordering making the batches bigger and our staff are getting better each time at the extra quarantine requirements, finding ways to do it quicker and more efficiently. Each year and because of this when we audited our costs we found that in 2024 we can safely reduce these fees by 50% compared to how much was charged in 2023 and before this.

Dragonfruit - Dark Star

The Dark Star Dragonfruit is a medium to large sized fruit with red flesh and a mild, sweet, grape-like flavour. It is most enjoyed when chilled and eaten fresh. The Dark Star has long skinny bracts, or fins, that make it especially attractive. White elaborate flowers bloom only at night. Grow Dragon Fruit in well-drained soils, in full sun to partial shade. Water this cactus regularly and do not allow the soil to dry out between watering #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #dragonfruit #pitaya #darkstar

Muscadine Grape - Noble 🍇🍇🍇

The Muscadine - Noble is the most popular red muscadine grape for wine or juice production. It is self-fertile. Yields are high, and berry ripening is fairly uniform.

The vine has high disease resistance.
Flavour is less musky than most muscadine grapes. Excellent fresh eating or good for wine making. Exclusive to Daleys - this is a recently released Florida variety. They are vigorous vines and should not be planted where they can escape into native bushland, as they would quickly smother trees and shrubs around them 🍇 #daleysfruit #daleysnursery #muscadinegrape #grapevine
